1:00 p.m.—Emerging Wisconsin Insect Pests of 2023 by PJ Liesch, Entomologist, UW-Madison Extension

This presentation will showcase emerging insect pests of Wisconsin and their management. Pests such as viburnum leaf beetle, spongy moth, and the spotted lanternfly will be covered

2:20 p.m.—Effective Management of White Grubs in Turf by Dr. R. Chris Williamson, Midwest Research Scientist

Attendees will learn about the biology (life cycle, behavior, ecology, etc.) and management strategies of key white grub species that infest and cause damage to turf.

This Learn about recent research on SGN (Size Guide Number) impacts on the efficacy of pre-emergent crabgrass herbicide applications and the impact of nozzle/droplet size on post-emergent crabgrass control.

1:00 p.m. – Oak Wilt Interactives by Dr. David L. Roberts, President & Owner, The Plant Doctor, LLC (aka The Tree Doctor)

Oak symptoms are not always what they seem. Our first thought is Oak Wilt but there are many other factors that can be the cause. This talk will help you to accurately diagnose oak problems before determining a management plan.

2:20 p.m.— Trees & Ice Storms: Predictable, Preventable and Planning by Rich Hauer, Professor of Urban Forestry, UW Stevens Point and Director of Urban Forestry, CNUC  

Learn how ice storms form and how trees respond to loading. You will discover that trees fail in predicable ways, you can prevent damage, and it’s better to plan.

To provide the quality education that you expect, while being mindful of the safety of our participants, we are providing the Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Short Course online via Zoom. The class will only be available during the live presentation on the specified date and time. It will NOT be available to view later. An email will be sent the day before the class to registered participants with their personal link to access that specific Zoom session. This requires a unique email address for EACH registrant.

Registration (opens on December 14, 2022) 
The registration fee for all four sessions is $55. Single sessions are $25 per session
