Enjoy the breathtaking views, beautiful facilities, and renowned golf course at SentryWorld in Stevens Point WI. The volunteers on the Program Committee have put together another extraordinary line-up for this event. We are offering Three Tracks of Education, two indoors and one outdoors, to include lots of information on tree support systems, tree biology, nursery production, and much more. Our outdoor track will consist of a tour of the grounds, a soils analysis session, and a tree planting BMP’s demonstration. Most of the sessions will be repeated, so you won’t miss a thing. A buffet-style lunch will be served while you enjoy the camaraderie of your peers and take a few moments to indulge in the views of the grounds. We hope to see you in Stevens Point!
CEU's and CTSP's are available for all qualifying sessions.

Tree Support Systems – Where to Install Them, What to Use, and the Status of the ANSI Standard – Tom Smiley
Support systems are commonly used on trees with condition that are prone to failure. They can greatly reduce the likelihood of failure in some situations. This talk will show common situation where support systems can be applied and detail what materials can be used. There will also be discussion on situations where system failures have been observed and how the ANSI A300 committee is looking to improve system performance in those areas.

Introduction to Tree Biology – Les Werner
A short introduction into tree growth, the tree’s vascular system and wood formation.
Oak Wilt Signs, Symptoms and Management – Holly Petrillo
In this presentation, Holly will cover the basics of oak wilt from the perspective of field identification and management, and share her experiences working with landowners to diagnose and reduce oak wilt on their properties.
What's the Sniff All About? – Cory Gritzmacher
Have you ever tried to find that needle in the haystack or tried to find the impossible?
Cory will be presenting an innovative approach to research and monitoring effort for trees to toads and everything in between. He will be discussing how the use of canines can have a future in the tree care industry form detection of fungi, invasive insects and other treats to the health of our trees. He will demo the amazing scent capabilities of the on-staff conservation dog from Mequon Nature Preserve.
Nursery Production – Jeff Edgar
There is no perfect tree production method. What works for one grower, may not work for others. No matter what methods are chosen, compromises will still need to be made. Jeff will talk about current methods of tree production and offer some thoughts towards alternative methods.
Recruitment & Career Development in Arboriculture – Cindy Schwab
Cindy will present ideas on how to recruit in the current job market as well as getting your resume noticed in the age of job search engines. What is career development and why is it necessary for both the employer and employee? Why are career development plans a win-win for employees and employers? She willl share her thoughts on how the employer and employee can and should drive employee development.
Tree Planting Standards and BMP’s – Tom Smiley
One of the main reasons that young trees die is poor planting procedures. This talk will discuss best planting practices and the current status of the ANSI A300 tree planting standards.
