SUMMARY:ISA 2024 Annual International Conference
DESCRIPTION:The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) will celebrate 100 years of professionalism this year. Looking back over the years\, seeing how the organization grew is exciting. In 1924\, the first Shade Tree Conference was held in Stamford\, Connecticut\, and opened with about 36 participants from several different states. Today\, our most recent Annual International Conference had approximately 905 attendees from 23 other countries. In 1974\, the first official Tree Trimmer’s Jamboree was held and featured a 40-ft. foot lock and a work climb consisting of three workstations. Now\, the International Tree Climbing Championship features five different events and the best climbers around the globe. In 1992\, the ISA Certified Arborist® program launched\, which not only brought greater recognition for the profession but led to the creation of several other more specialized credentials and qualifications as well. \n\n\n\nISA has grown tremendously over the past 100 years\, and our impact on the profession and the community continues to grow in ways that the first Shade Tree Convention participants may not have imagined. We want to thank our members and credential holders who’ve taken this incredible journey with us as we celebrate our accomplishments. Your support has brought us to this milestone. \n\n\n\nIn August 2023\, ISA began its Road to Centennial Celebration\, a year-long series of events and initiatives. This includes\, among other things\, articles in Arborist News highlighting the organization’s history\, special webinars with industry leaders\, and a commemorative book. We encourage everyone to join us as we celebrate 100 years of professionalism and promote the professional practice of arboriculture. The road to Centennial culminates at the 2024 Annual International Conference\, 12 – 14 August\, in Atlanta\, Georgia\, where we will have a grand celebration and honor the contributions of our members and credential holders. We hope to see you there.

DESCRIPTION:Presentamos una aplicación de desarrollo web para facilitar la selección de especies arbóreas para proyectos urbanos. Consideramos una decisión multicriterio que incluye las condiciones de la infraestructura\, las condiciones del sitio\, la estética y el clima. También consideramos no sólo la adecuación a la condición climática actual\, sino también la adecuación a la condición climática futura. Las variables que intervienen en la aplicación fueron validadas por múltiples partes interesadas\, incluidos los agentes públicos y privados que trabajan con la vegetación urbana. Esperamos que esta herramienta mejore el desempeño de los árboles en las zonas urbanas\, dado que también puede informar a los no expertos de una mejor toma de decisiones sobre los árboles urbanos. / We are introducing a web development software for facilitating tree species selection for urban projects. We consider a multicriteria decision involving infrastructure conditions\, site conditions\, aesthetics and climate. We also consider not only present climate appropriateness but also future climate pertinence. The variables involved in the software were validated by multiple stakeholders including private and public actors working with urban vegetation. We expect this tool to improve the performance of trees in urban areas given that it can also inform not expert of better urban trees decision making.  \n\n\n\nTime Length of Presentation: 30 minutes \n\n\n\nPresenter Name: Dra. SUMMARY:ISA Virtual Annual Conference & Trade Show
DESCRIPTION:ISA has made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person 2020 ISA Annual International Conference and Trade Show slated for 15-17 December 2020. The safety and well-being of our attendees\, members\, employees\, partners and vendors remains our top priority. This decision was made due to recent developments in COVID-19 cases\, the restrictions placed by public health officials on large gatherings through 2020 in Albuquerque\, New Mexico\, and the overall climate surrounding travel and meetings. We want to take this time to thank the ISA Rocky Mountain Chapter for their leadership throughout the entire planning process. The members of the Conference Planning Committee were prepared to host an exceptional conference and we cannot thank them enough for their insights and efforts. While we are disappointed we will not be able to meet in person this year\, we are excited to announce that ISA is working towards a virtual experience where attendees will have the opportunity to earn continuing education units\, listen to Keynote Speakers\, engage with presentations and presenters\, and network with their peers from the comfort of their homes. ISA plans on making this event accessible on a global scale reflecting our international community\, and we look forward to sharing more information in the coming weeks on how to participate in this virtual experience. ISA thanks all of its members\, attendees\, and partners for their continued support and enthusiasm for this event\, and we look forward to meeting virtually this year\, and in-person as soon as we are able to do so safely. \n\n\n\nMore information can be found on the ISA website.
