SUMMARY:Plant Diagnostics: The Step-by-Step Approach to Identifying Plant Problems
DESCRIPTION:Learn the process for identifying plant problems in your own trees\, landscape and garden and be prepared for the next growing season! This course explains the basics of the plant diagnostic process in an easy-to-understand way. \n\n\n\nAt the end of the course\, you’ll be able to: \n\n\n\n\nExplain the steps of the diagnostic process.\n\n\n\nIdentify appropriate unbiased\, research-based resources to use in the diagnostic process.\n\n\n\n\nAfter you’ve finished this course\, we hope you feel empowered to attempt diagnostics with your own plants using the framework you’ll learn in this course\, accessing the resources we’ll share with you\, and using UW-Madison Division of Extension diagnostic services and labs for extra help when you need it.   \n\n\n\nCourse Snapshot\n\n\n\nWhat: An online course where you move at your own pace through 13 modules with online videos\, reading\, and interactive exercises. Bonus: two live webinars\, “Putting the Process into Practice: Real World Diagnostics\,” led by Extension educators who practice plant diagnostics and “Meet the Labs!” presented by UW-Madison diagnostic lab directors. The webinars will be recorded. \n\n\n\nHow: This is an online course that uses Canvas (online classroom) and Zoom. \n\n\n\nWhen: February 1-April 30\, 2023. This is the moderated course timeframe\, when the course will be monitored actively by staff and course questions will be answered. However\, as a participant\, you will have access to content through the December 31\, 2023. The course is designed with flexibility for the busy adult in mind. Go through the course at your own pace when you have time! \n\n\n\nWho: This online course is open to the general public\, Wisconsin Extension Master Gardeners\, and commercial professionals. This course counts for 7.5 hours of continuing education for the Wisconsin Extension Master Gardener Program. ISA Certified Arborists: If you complete this course by April 30\, 2023\, you will be awarded 7. 5 CEUs. \n\n\n\nCost: \n\n\n\n\n2023 course cost\, general public and commercial professionals: $99\n\n\n\n2023 course cost\, Wisconsin Extension Master Gardeners: $49 (Must be current participants in the Wisconsin Extension Master Gardener Program or enrolled in Onboarding 2023.)\n\n\n\n\nCancellation policy: \n\n\n\nCourse cancellation prior to the course start date on February 1\, 2023  receives a refund less $20 for processing.  No refunds or returns after the course start date (February 1\, 2023)\, including for late registrations (post-February 1\, 2023).

SUMMARY:Aerial Rescue Training Workshop
DESCRIPTION:When a tree worker is injured or incapacitated aloft\, typically fellow crew members are the first to respond.  An emergency could develop at any time\, and tree care professionals must know how to react. \n\n\n\nTCIA’s Aerial Rescue Training Program helps protect your workers and meet the aerial rescue training requirements mandated by ANSI Z133.1 and OSHA. \n\n\n\nThis certificate program is designed to be used in combination with on-the-job training and practice\, so that crews have the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate an emergency situation and potentially rescue an injured tree worker. \n\n\n\n Registration starts at 8:00am.  Class to begin at 8:30am and be completed by 3:30pm. \n\n\n\nInstructors: Eric Freesmeyer\, Gary Kohler \n\n\n\nCapacity: 30 Beginners/15 Advanced \n\n\n\n\nALL students will receive a workbook and a take home quiz if you have not already become certified through TCIA.\n\n\n\nALL students will be required to bring and wear proper PPE (hardhat and safety glasses). \n\n\n\nALL students should also bring climbing gear to take part in a wide range of rescue scenarios (not mandatory to take class). \n\n\n\nAll gear will need to pass inspection prior to use.\n\n\n\nFor beginner students there will be additional focus on ‘low and slow’. The advanced students will have the opportunity to work through more complicated scenarios at height. \n\n\n\nLawn chairs and water bottles are recommended.\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Deadline: April 28\, 2023\, 4:00pm \n\n\n\n6.5 ISA and TCIA CTSP CEUs available. \n\n\n\nOther Info: \n\n\n\n\nLunch will be provided.
