DESCRIPTION:Join us for a virtual workshop entitled Overcoming Barriers in Urban Tree Planting and Care featuring speakers from across the United States. The event is Thursday February 13\, 12-2pm pacific / 1-3pm mountain / 2-4pm central / 3-5pm eastern. This event will address crucial questions for equitable and sustainable urban forest management\, including: What are the barriers facing urban tree planting initiatives from the perspectives of residents\, community leaders\, and practitioners? How do these concerns and challenges relate to the larger tree management life cycle\, and the experiences of people from different neighborhoods? How can these barriers be overcome\, particularly in low-income and low-canopy areas? The following week (Monday\, February 17th)\, we will be offering a certified arborist exam in conjunction with the Annual Conference in Green Bay\, WI. The cost of the exam is separate and paid directly to ISA. Information will be forthcoming on the exam. The exam will be available for everyone\, not just class participants. So if you want to take the exam\, it is best to start the application process early. The cost of the annual conference is a separate fee as well\, if you wish to attend. DESCRIPTION:Biochar for Tree Growth and Water Quality: Exploring Potential in Urban and Disturbed Soils \n\n\n\nTuesday\, December 17\, 2024\, Noon (CST) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Rebecca Abney and Julia Campbell will be presenting their findings and research funded through Tree and Soil Research Fund Grant Program. CEUs will be available for this webinar. \n\n\n\nBiochar is a soil amendment that is broadly described to improve a number of soil deficiencies\, however it is not universally recommended. We present results from a handful of studies investigating methods and rates of application of biochar in urban soils. We will discuss how our study trees responded to different biochar applications and how each of these combinations impacted water quality. We will also discuss best practices for using biochar and which soils would benefit the most. We will also discuss best management practices for using biochar to improve urban stormwater quality. \n\n\n\nRegistration will be open approximately three weeks prior

DESCRIPTION:When a tree worker is injured or incapacitated aloft\, typically fellow crew members are the first to respond.  An emergency could develop at any time\, and tree care professionals must know how to react. \n\n\n\nAerial Rescue Training helps protect your workers and meet the aerial rescue training requirements mandated by ANSI Z133.1 and OSHA.
