DESCRIPTION:Erb Park\, Appleton\, WI\n\n\n\nGear Inspection will be at 12 noon Friday\, September 18th. Followed by a walk-through of Preliminary Events. The first two preliminary events will start by 2pm on Friday the 18th. (Belayed Speed Climb & Ascent Events). \n\n\n\nSaturday 7am Check in\, 7:30am start\, 2pm Masters’ Challenge. \n\n\n\nThere will be a few new things at the TCC this year\, and we only have thirty spots for competitors. The success of our event would not be possible without the support of our many great Sponsors and Volunteers. This qualification promotes the safety of people and property by providing a standardized and systematic process for assessing tree risk. The results of a tree risk assessment can provide tree owners and risk managers with the information to make informed decisions to enhance tree benefits\, health\, and longevity.  The Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Course is a two-day educational course followed by a 1/2 day assessment that includes both a written and field component. The course prepares the participant to take the TRAQ assessment to become ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. It is required that you attend the course and successfully complete the assessment in order to receive the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. \n\n\n\n Hosted by: The Wisconsin Arborist Association Instructor: Mr. Don Roppolo Don Roppolo is the Manager of Arboricultural Training for Davey Tree. He has been working in the tree care industry for twenty-five years. During his career he has worked in the following capacities: taught arboriculture skills at universities and technical colleges\, municipal forestry\, arboricultural research\, and for the past sixteen years has worked in commercial arboriculture.  He holds a bachelor of science in Agriculture with an emphasis in urban forestry from Western Illinois University\, and a master of science in Natural Resources with and emphasis in urban forestry from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. \n\n\n\nTENTATIVE AGENDA Day 1: Educational Session (8:00am – 5:00pm) Course Opening Module 1: Introduction to Tree Risk Assessment Break Module 2: Levels of Assessment Module 3: Target Assessment Lunch Module 4: Site Assessment Break Module 5: Tree Biology and Mechanics Day 2: Educational Session (8:00am – 5:00pm) Module 6: Tree Inspection and Assessment Break Module 7: Data Analysis and Risk Categorization (indoors) Module 7: Field Activity (outdoors) Lunch Module 8: Mitigation Module 9: Reporting Break Review and Exam Information Day 3: Exam (8:00am – 11:30am) Written exam Performance-based exam *Schedule subject to adjustment  \n\n\n\nCOURSE CONTENT Tree Biology and Mechanics: Participants will learn how to assess wood structure\, decay\, and tree mechanics\, and evaluate their impact on likelihood of tree or tree part failure. Participants will also learn how to identify and assess defects and conditions that may affect likelihood of failure.   Tree Inspection and Assessment: Participants will learn about types of targets\, assess the likelihood of a tree or tree part impacting a target\, and estimate the consequences of tree or tree part failure. Participants will also learn how to assess site factors that may influence likelihood of failure. Data Analysis and Risk Categorization: After learning the tree and target factors that must be assessed\, participants will combine likelihood of failure\, likelihood of impact\, and consequences of failure to derive a risk rating. This rating helps the assessor communicate tree risk to clients and risk managers\, and allows comparison of risk levels between trees. Risk Reporting: Participants will learn skills for clearly communicating tree risk to clients\, both in written and verbal reports. Participants will also learn about the key components that should be included in a report after completing a tree risk assessment. \n\n\n\nTREE RISK ASSESSMENT QUALIFICATION INFORMATION The Tree Risk Assessment Qualification is valid for five years from the date the TRAQ exam is passed. The qualification holder is required to take the course and pass the exam every five years in order to maintain the qualification. \n\n\n\n COURSE ELIGIBILITY To be able to register for the course and take the exam\, you must have earned one of the following credentials:  ISA Certified Arborist® or ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®   ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified  A degree in arboriculture\, urban forestry\, traditional forestry\, or horticulture that is part of a national qualifications framework or is from a college or university.  A national certification or certificate in arboriculture (see a complete list in the TRAQ handbook)  ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA) status  Licensing or Certification from an approved state/province program (see a complete list in the TRAQ handbook)  SAF Certified Forester Included in your registration:  –   course registration  –   exam fee  –   the TRAQ manual (shipped via UPS to the address you provide (No PO Boxes)  –   the TRAQ workbook (shipped via UPS to the address you provide (No PO Boxes) –   Risk Assessment Clipboard (shipped via UPS to the address you provide (No PO Boxes)  –   coffee and breakfast items  –   lunch\, beverages and snacks for the day Travel and lodging is on your own. DESCRIPTION:TCIA’s 2019 SRT Climbing Workshop\n7.5 ISA CEUs and CTSP credits available\nInstructor: Eric Freesmeyer from Capital City Tree Experts \nThis workshop is being funded in part by the Arborist Safety Training Institute. \nSRT Climber is a Tree Care Academy module that examines safe and efficient methods of work positioning through the tree on a stationary rope. Main topics of learning include anchoring\, support points\, redirecting the climbing line and vector forces as applied to tree strength for climbing. SRT equipment selections based on rope compatibility are emphasized. \nThis certificate program makes OSHA and ANSI-required employee training easy to implement and verify. TCIA provides support\, testing and transcript administration. The course can be used to help you qualify employees according to OSHA and ANSI Z133.1 guidelines. Designed to be used in conjunction with on-the-job training. The course offers a means of readying employees for advancement. \nStudents should bring helmets\, safety glasses\, and lawn chairs. Registration starts at 8:00am.
