SUMMARY:2025 WAA Tree Climbing Championship
DESCRIPTION:Mead Park\, Stevens Point\, WI\n\n\n\n1201 W. Whitney St.\, Stevens Point\, WI 54481\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday will include education sessions with CEUs\, gear check\, walk-through\, and ascent event.  \n\n\n\nSaturday will be the remaining preliminary events and preliminary awards. \n\n\n\nSunday will be the Master’s Challenge and final awards. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe success of our event would not be possible without the support of our many great Sponsors and Volunteers. Sign up early and come join us to compete or help\, you won’t regret the experience!\n\n\n\n\n\nClimbers and volunteers will receive CEUs!\n\n\n\n\n\nYou must pre-register for this competition\, and competitors must be current WAA members.  We are accepting 40 Wisconsin competitors and 5 Out of State competitors.  Register on time\, as the number of contestants is limited.  In agreement with other ISA chapters\, competitors may compete in only one chapter championship per year\, preferably their home chapter.  Contestants will be scheduled for all 5 preliminary events. SUMMARY:WAA 3rd Annual Youth T-Shirt Design Contest
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the third year of our Youth T-shirt contest!  We hope all our members will encourage a child between the ages of 8 and 14 years old to submit a drawing.  \n\n\n\nOur 2025 theme will be “Trees in Song” \n\n\n\nHere are the rules: \n\n\n\n\n A child (or children) must simply be sponsored by a WAA member (there is no cost\, but you must be a current member).  The WAA member is responsible for submitting a scan of the drawing (Please keep the original!) to the Editorial Chair at briana@treehealthmgmt.com.\n\n\n\nAn E-Blast will be sent in early July when the contest will be live and announced on our website.\n\n\n\nThe drawing must be in black and white and must be submitted by August 10th\, 2025 by 5:00pm.\n\n\n\nOnly one drawing per child will be accepted.\n\n\n\nA panel of judges will meet on August 14th to select three finalists. The winning design will be voted on by current WAA members. All children’s names will be kept anonymous until a winner has been selected.\n\n\n\nThe winner will need to submit the original drawing via US Post or submit a high-quality digital scan (instructions will be provided).  The drawing will be the new apparel design for WAA clothing in 2026.  Apparel will be available for purchase to membership\, and our winner will receive a choice of a free WAA T-shirt or sweatshirt.\n\n\n\nAll participants will have their drawing showcased in a digital format on the WAA website.\n\n\n\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:Monday evening at the WAA/DNR Annual conference from 5:30-6:30 pm\, right before the blue light special\, the WAA TCC will be hosting another ascent event to see who is the fastest climber in GB land. \n\n\n\nRegister Here!\n\n\n\n\nClimbers of all skill levels encouraged to compete.\n\n\n\nLimited to the first 24 climbers to register.\n\n\n\nPre-registration is required.\n\n\n\nSign up deadline is February 14\, 2025 (REGISTRATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!)\n\n\n\n\nWhat To Bring/What to Expect:\n\n\n\n\nPlease bring your approved ascent system for 11 mm Courant Rebel rope.\n\n\n\nProper PPE etiquette per ANSI standards will be followed for the event (not provided\, must bring your own).\n\n\n\nThe WAA will provide full-body harnesses for all to use.\n\n\n\nTwo ropes will be set up for head-to-head competition.\n\n\n\n\nQuestions:\n\n\n\nContact Gary Kohler

SUMMARY:2025 Virtual Certified Arborist Study Group
DESCRIPTION:5 Week Workshop – Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting January 16 – February 13\, 2025. Every Tuesday and Thursday will be 6:30pm – 9:00pm. Over the 5 weeks (9 sessions)\, we will be covering each of the domains associated with the certified arborist exam. The following week (Monday\, February 17th)\, we will be offering a certified arborist exam in conjunction with the Annual Conference in Green Bay\, WI. The cost of the exam is separate and paid directly to ISA. Information will be forthcoming on the exam. The exam will be available for everyone\, not just class participants. So if you want to take the exam\, it is best to start the application process early. The cost of the annual conference is a separate fee as well\, if you wish to attend. DESCRIPTION:When a tree worker is injured or incapacitated aloft\, typically fellow crew members are the first to respond.  An emergency could develop at any time\, and tree care professionals must know how to react. \n\n\n\nAerial Rescue Training helps protect your workers and meet the aerial rescue training requirements mandated by ANSI Z133.1 and OSHA. DESCRIPTION:VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Click here for sign-up genius \n\n\n\nWe are hosting the 2024 Day of Service at Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum. The site address is 2405 W. Forest Home Ave.\, Milwaukee\, WI 53215. The event is scheduled for Friday\, September 27th with an inclement weather day planned for an October 3rd.  \n\n\n\nForest Home Cemetery & Arboretum is an arboretum\, national historic site and independent\, community focused non-profit\, that provides access to a green space larger than any Milwaukee City park for the surrounding new immigrant\, south side neighborhood. Our grounds are open to the public everyday for jogging\, dog walking and bicycling. Tree pruning & removals will make the grounds safer for visitors and trees healthier.     \n\n\n\nThere is a wide variety of work opportunities available including climbing and aerial lift applications (bucket and crawler lift access).  There is a lot of pruning and removal work in the southern portion of the cemetery. \n\n\n\nOur work day will start at 8am. All volunteers bringing heavy equipment such as bucket trucks\, chip trucks\, and lifts\, please bring proper cones and signage to set up a safe work area.Lunch\, refreshments and warming areas will be provided by Forest Home Cemetery & Arboretum. Local media may be on site to help promote the efforts of our volunteers. Students from a number urban forestry programs will be in attendance\, this will be a great opportunity to mentor\, teach and advertise to the new generation of arborists. The Cemetery has partnerships with Teens Grow Greens and Sixteenth Street’s environmental apprentices. They are going to try and incorporate an opportunity for youth to learn from this experience.Please contact Adam Alves at alves.adam@countyofdane.com with any questions or to volunteer.  If you plan on attending\, please let him know how many people are attending and what kind of equipment you can volunteer for the day by September 15th so we can plan accordingly.
