SUMMARY:Restoring Your Woodland Class 1: Know Your Enemy- Invasive Plant ID & Property Assessment
DESCRIPTION:The first step in taking back your woodland is knowing what you’re up against. This foundational class will train you to identify the “top tier” invasive threats in our counties woodlands—from woody invasive species (buckthorn\, honeysuckle\, barberry\, autumn olive) to herbaceous (garlic mustard\, dame’s rocket\, celindine\, burdock). Using live samples\, we’ll show you the key features to look for in all seasons. We’ll also discuss why these plants win and how to think like an ecologist. The session culminates in learning a strategic “triage” approach to map your own property. You’ll leave with the confidence to identify your problem plants and a clear map of where to start for the biggest impact. \n\n\n\nISA CEUs Available \n\n\n\nAges 18+Member: $40 | Non-member: $50Pre-registration required by January 19 at 11:59 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here

The event is Thursday February 13\, 12-2pm pacific / 1-3pm mountain / 2-4pm central / 3-5pm eastern. How do these concerns and challenges relate to the larger tree management life cycle\, and the experiences of people from different neighborhoods? How can these barriers be overcome\, particularly in low-income and low-canopy areas? Each speaker will address solutions to address challenges\, and there will be an open Q&A with all speakers. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nElektra Fike-Data\, Tree San Diego \n\n\n\nEdith de Guzman\, University of California\, Los Angeles \n\n\n\nLindsay Darling\, Morton Arboretum \n\n\n\nHamil Pearsall\, Temple University \n\n\n\nLiz Riedman\, US Environmental Protection Agency \n\n\n\nModerators: Lara Roman & Michelle Carr\, USDA Forest Service \n\n\n\nBios of the speakers are included at the link below.
