SUMMARY:2021 ISA Virtual Tree Climber Summit
DESCRIPTION:Based on feedback from the climbing community\, ISA will host a virtual event designed for them\, the 2021 Virtual Tree Climber Summit\, on 13 July. The format will also include three or four educational sessions (on-demand) and a keynote speech by Carlos Buhler\, a world-renowned climber and scaler.  Additionally\, a few geographically-focused networking breakouts will provide opportunities for attendees to connect and share ideas live.

SUMMARY:Free Webinar: The Influence of Municipal Pruning Practices on Urban Forest Health and Storm Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Municipalities across the U.S. are increasingly challenged to fund and perform systematic tree pruning activities that enhance urban tree health and longevity\, maximize ecosystem service benefits\, improve climate and storm resilience\, and minimize public risk. Only (46%) of 667 U.S. communities surveyed in 2014 reported completing tree pruning on a systematic basis. Dr. Richard Hauer will share the benefits of systematic pruning and the status of pruning in U.S. cities. Dr. Leslie Brandt will spotlight tree maintenance practices\, innovations and challenges from 10 case studies in the U.S. Through analysis of decades of systematic pruning data in Milwaukee\, Randy Krouse will demonstrate the importance of pruning cycle/forest structure alignment on forest health and resilience\, tree maintenance capacity\, storm resilience and public safety. Finally\, Paul Johnson will wrap up the discussion by highlighting current and emergent resource aids for improved urban forest management. \n\n\n\nThis webinar is open to all. We are seeking 1 CEU with the International Society of Arboriculture.
